Project description

Government of Japan has extended 8 Million USD as a grant to develop the Meteorological Observation Network. The project was awarded to Marubeni Corporation Japan and Inova was the local partner who did installation, maintenance and aftersales during and after the warranty period. The project consisted of 2 elements.

1. Supply, installation and provide aftersales services for the 38 x Automatic Weather Stations (AWS).
   These AWS were installed island wide and it includes Wind Sensor, Humidity Sensor, Barometric Pressure Sensor, Temperature sensor, Rain Gauge and Data logger. The total AWS are powered by solar system.
   
   
2. Supply and installation of VSAT Network as a communication infrastructure for the collection of data to central location at headquarters of Department Meteorology at Colombo 07.
